Drinking and fighting, those two great tastes that go great together, will merge this Sunday on Melrose. Boa, Joe’s, Comme Ca, and Church & State will each enter the ring at David Myers’ bistro to duke it out during the second phase of Raising the Bar, the cocktail competition started at Joe Miller’s Abbot-Kinney restaurant last month. The mix-masters will be judged on their drink-concocting skills in three flavored events while using Elijah Craig Bourbon. The first round is a look at their ability to make a classic cocktail with said hooch, as well as one using both the amber liquor and any other ingredients, and lastly a total free-for-all using anything at all. There will be four officials to offer judgment, while Comme Ca will be open to anyone who wants to come in and witness the blood booze-shed and buy one of the selected drinks.
