The culinary glitterati come out in full force each year for Meals On Wheels Chicago’s main fundraiser, the Celebrity Chef Ball, but this year’s version (on Friday, October 16 at Macy’s on State) may top them all. More than 60 chefs are participating and not all of them are local. Look for Michael Schwartz of Miami’s Michael’s Genuine, Nancy Silverton of L.A.’s Osteria Mozza, and New York’s Bill Telepan of the eponymous restaurant. Though the event is sold out, we’ve got some tickets for four lucky and creative Grub Street readers.
Send us an e-mail recounting the best or most memorable meal you ever ate on the road. Limit your tales to 150 words or fewer, please. Our winner will receive two VIP Chef’s Table tickets (valued at $250 each) for the seated dinner featuring food prepared before your eyes by the event’s boldest chefs. Our runner-up will receive a pair of tickets to the genearal admission tasting, which begins at 8 p.m. Entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 15. We’ll alert the winners on Thursday night via email and publish their winning stories on Friday. If you’re not feeling lucky, you can buy tickets to the event here.
