Whipped Bakeshop, the first storefront/cake studio for cult baker of Yoda cookies Zoe Lukas, plans to open its doors this Wednesday after a slight delay from the original opening date of October 14. Whipped will only sell cupcakes and La Colombe coffee for immediate consumption out of the Fishtown store - Lukas says her elaborate cookies and cakes are too labor-intensive to prepare for retail purchases and must be special-ordered - at least for the time being. What flavors does Whipped have on deck for the grand opening?
Lukas says to expect so see red velvet, vanilla buttermilk, zesty lemon and dark chocolate cupcakes with a variety of icings including bittersweet ganache and vanilla buttercream. Cupcakes range from $2.50 to $3.00 and she plans on tweeting the flavors daily. The storefront is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s closed on Mondays and open by appointment only on Tuesdays.
