Snyder’s of Hanover Also Thinks Utz Are Better Than Nuts

In snack food empire building news, Snyder’s of Hanover is buying Pennsylvania-based Utz. The good news is the company, which also acquired Chicago-based potato chip maker Jay’s in 2007, plans to maintain the independence of the two product lines (and not lay anyone off). The Inquirer did a taste test of the companies’ products and found Utz to be superior in most categories, although they (like us) found themselves powerless to resist the allure of the Snyder’s pretzel nuggets that are coated in a mysterious honey-mustard-onion powder that we’re certain also involves an addictive substance. But what we really want to know is, does this merger mean Snyder’s will get a cameo on Mad Men soon?
