Master chef Jose Andres came to town yesterday, fresh from his first appearance speaking at Harvard (and “maybe my last,” he joked), with a lot to celebrate. November marks The Bazaar’s first birthday, as it still keeps garnishing the top of “best restaurant” lists around the country. The Bazaar also has a new chef de cuisine, Joshua Whigham, whose positioning allows Jorge Chicas to ascend to executive chef. Yesterday, Andres set the table for a media event to showcase The Bazaar’s brunch, introduced last spring, but until now, primarily the provenance of hotel guests, who enjoyed the typically whimsical dishes by morning, while other diners pressed hard for reservations at dinner. Andres, who might have had 60 Minutes waiting in the wings, concluded brunch with a look at The Bazaar’s high tea, which rivals the hare rabbit’s for wonderful weirdness. Take a look at the action and molecular gastronomic food porn in our Bazaar brunch slideshow.
