Say Goodbye to 18 Taquerias

These past two years have been rough in all sectors of the restaurant world, not least taquerias, some 18 of which have shuttered in since early 2008 according to Burritoeater. With the increasing number of listings on his site sporting a “shut” designation, editor Charles Hodgkins has finally decided to do a big listings purge, thus eliminating the memory of places like La Castro and El Taconazo forever. So if you want to revisit those gems of language (“Unfortunately for Broadway Express, you can’t taste affable service, especially when the tortilla is this gummy”) or be reminded of the greatness that’s left us (“Early bites [at La Castro] revealed a heavy reliance upon some of the most deliciously tangy pastor this town’s known in recent years”), now’s the time to do it. Those records will disappear imminently, just like the taquerias that spawned them. [Burritoeater]
