Momofuku Chef David Chang Rejected By San Fran, Still Welcome in Philly

Yesterday, we learned that the San Francisco Asia Society canceled a book signing with Momofuku chef David Chang, after he went public with his feelings that “fuckin’ every restaurant in San Francisco is just serving figs on a plate.” Not long after, an email arrived in our inbox, telling us that Chang will be coming to Philly to sign copies of his Momofuku cookbook. Chang - who made the remarks about San Francisco during a recent panel he hosted with Anthony Bourdain entitled “I Call Bullshit!,” during which the pair ripped cupcakes, people who take photos of their dinner, and Guy Fieri - may have pissed off everyone in Northern California with his salty assessment of the SF cooking scene, but that kind of insulting language in Philly will hardly make anyone bat an eye. In fact, we thrive on it! Also, we’re in desperate need of a noodle bar, so hopefully he’ll like it enough here he’ll want to stay. Catch David Chang signing books at the Williams-Sonoma in the Bellevue on Monday, November 9 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. sometime in November. The date is not yet confirmed, but the store manager tells us Chang is coming.
