What To Do This Weekend

Midtown Village, formerly known as the Gayborhood, is hosting its fourth fall festival on Saturday October 3 from noon to 8 p.m. Sansom between 12th and Juniper Streets and 13th between Chestnut and Locust Streets will be closed to traffic and open to drinking, eating and sumo wrestling(!), with local restaurants and bars like Time, APO, Fergie’s and Raw selling their wares. What else is on deck?

The 15th annual Sippin’ by the River event takes place on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing and benefits the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. There will be food, wine and beer tastings, restaurant demos and live music. General admission is $35, buy tickets here.

Sunday is, of course, is Jose Garces’s debut on The Next Iron Chef on the Food Network at 9 p.m. He’ll be watching it at a viewing party at Distrito with his adoring fanbase.
