These World Series food challenges have really gotten out of hand. In the latest, readers of the Journal News of Westchester are trying to improve on the Philadelphia cheesesteak, while readers of Delaware’s News Journal are trying to one-up NYC-style pizza. It’s a cheap publicity stunt (and don’t get us started on the Yankees cupcakes at Crumbs and the Cupcake Stop), but meanwhile, in the real world, Bloomberg reports that sales at New York cheesesteak joints are expected to spike. And elsewhere: During a press conference next Monday, the owner of the Carnegie Deli, Sandy Levine, will, along with Emeril Lagasse, announce something to do with the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem. No official word yet, but it’s pretty obvious that Lagasse and the Carnegie are opening outposts there (the Carnegie has also opened locations at the Mirage in Vegas, Six Flags Great Adventure in Jersey, and Foxwoods). Pennsylvania, let us know how you like that cheesecake.
