Step up and get your po’boys, Beck’s Cajun Cafe, the New Orleans-inspired stall-with-seats in Reading Terminal Market has opened. Unfortunately, the made-to-order beignets we woke up this morning thinking about are not a reality yet.
Owner Bill Beck tells us that a back-ordered piece of integral beignet-producing equipment is to blame for the dougnut-making delay and he hopes it will arrive in the next few days. There are plenty of savory dishes to tide you over in the meantime, including jambalayas, muffaletta and, of course, those po’boys. There’s also a chicken salad and oysters po’boy, a classic, if little-known, traditionally Philly combination of foods that you can also find on the menu at the Oyster House. Thrillist has Beck’s full menu.
