Perhaps looking to boost its own star rating a bit after a rough year, Yelp is sponsoring its own version of San Francisco’s Dine About Town called Yelp Eats! throughout the Bay Area next month. From October 5 through 11, restaurants in San Francisco, the East Bay, and Silicon Valley will offer three-course prix-fixe menus for $35, just like they do in June in San Francisco. The timing is awkward, though. While the promotion falls neatly opposite the official San Francisco equivalent, it comes less than a week before Silicon Valley’s Restaurant Week, and a little less than a month before the similar Gourmet East Bay. Still, bargain-hunters win as lots of Yelp Eats! participants are doubling up, participating in their own local restaurant weeks as well as Yelp’s. Any excuse for a prix-fixe, these guys.
