What to Eat at Pi Bar, Multiplying in the Mission

It’s been a long summer of anticipation, but Pi Bar is set to open tomorrow, and has revealed its full menu. The mathematically correct $3.14 slice tops the menu, followed by the “2 Pi R” special: A beer and a slice for $6.28. The rest of the straightforward pasta/pizza/subs menu (read it below) eschews mathematical humor. According to the manifesto on the web site, Pi Bar’s goal is to “implement the technique and ethic of the ‘New York Style’ with an emphasis on our fresh local ingredients.” Assuming they achieve that, we’re going to call this a happy ending for 1432 Valencia. Suriya Thai has a new home in SOMA, and outer Valencia residents get a new neighborhood pizzeria. The only casualty of the process seems to be the elephant on the garage door.

Update: Johnny O from BurritoJustice notes they’ve painted an elephant inside the door as a nod to the original. Well played, Pi Bar.
