Splash held its press opening last night, giving Grub Street the chance to check out all three floors of Frank DePasquale’s attempt to bring Vegas-style clubbing to Boston. The drinks were strong, the food was plentiful, and the waitresses’ dresses were extremely short and tight, but it seems a touch perverse to open a bar whose major attraction is rooftop cabanas after Labor Day (not to mention that, in contrast to the Vegas strip, the roof’s view is of a factory and the on-ramp to South Station). The lower floors contain billiards rooms, plush chairs for dining, and bathrooms with heated toilet seats (!). It’s all a little strange, but it’s sure to find some kind of audience — those drinks are very strong.
