• Paul Reidinger paid a visit to The Liberty Cafe a respectful nine months after the death of founder Cathie Guntli. He found it to be solid as always for the most part (those chicken pot pies never disappoint), but noted that there were some “signs of stress,” including an under-staffed dining room. [SFBG]

• Nicholas Boer gave Concord’s Bella two stars, even though the location in a Concord shopping mall gave him pause. “Bella, at its best, exemplifies the robust flavors of Italy,” he writes, but some dishes suffered from too much sauce or sweetness. [SF Chronicle]

• Meredith Brody enjoyed Poleng Lounge’s “attractive and convenient” versions of Asian street food. In fact, she couldn’t find much negative to say about it, and instead liberally used words like “delighted” and “favorite.” [SF Weekly]
