The Standard Grill got two out of five stars from Adam Platt, but today interim Times critic Pete Wells (following his no-star reviews of Gus & Gabriel as well as of Hotel Griffou) gave it just one out of four, and he’s catching flack for it. From BlackBook’s Twitter: “The Standard got one-starred. Pete Wells, crawl under a Swiss rock, motherfucker.” And from fellow critic Gael Greene: ““Is Pete Welles [sic] the Times’ new restaurant critic? He’s sure mowing’em down. I give Standard Grill 2 stars even tho cruelly loud and booked up.” Sam Sifton, this is what awaits you.
