The past few days have seen three closures and one bankruptcy in San Francisco, but we also got a couple of new names on the dining scene. Last Friday, Eater reported the Haight’s Baghdad Nights shuttered after some struggle, though apparently there are still vague plans to reopen in a new location. Then today, Fuzio shut its doors to make way for the new, as-yet-unnamed project from the Beretta team, which just finalized the liquor license transfer. Meanwhile, Tablehopper reports that Essencia has closed. Also today, Enrico’s declared bankruptcy, but will stay open.
Fortunately, some new openings have offset the damage, including a new wine bar from the Pauline’s Pizza folks serving Pauline’s own “Pizza Red” vintages. The pizzeria has been growing its own Zinfandel and Syrah grapes since 1997, and became an official winery in 2001. It will sell its own varieties and others, as well as small plates featuring its homegrown produce, at the new Brosnan alley space around the corner from the main shop.
