Independent coffee shop Caffe La Scala, renowned for its Italian sandwiches, is closing, reports the Brookline TAB Blog. Owner Domenico Cristaldi wants to focus on his family. La Scala will be replaced by an as-yet-unnamed Thai restaurant in October, but those craving authentic Italian fare in the neighborhood can simply cross the street to Bottega Fiorentina.
