The Cupcake Craze marches on with the opening of Flying Monkey Deuce, the second location of Rebecca Michaels’ Flying Monkey Patisserie (the original location is in Reading Terminal Market). The tiny storefront, just across from Jose Garces’s upcoming market, the Garces Trading Company, is painted Tiffany blue and features vintage floral chandeliers Michaels scored on eBay, an assortment of monkey-themed artwork and distressed wood furnishings; eventually, an outdoor patio adjacent to the space will be covered over to create an additional seating area. There are cupcakes, of course, but what else?

Deuce will offer the same cupcakes, cookies and bars - some of which are infused with sweet, sweet alcohol! - that the original Monkey has built its rep on; there are long-term plans to add soups and salads to the menu, but for now you can grab coffee, espresso drinks and tasty morsels like black velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and German chocolate brownies topped with coconut and pecan; see the full list of sweets here.

Flying Monkey Deuce, 1112 Locust St.; Open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to p.m.; Sunday 10 p.m. to 3 p.m.
