A new Chicago bakery may be in for some trouble with another cake shop in New York. Come September 23rd, Chicago pastry chef Jennifer Kane is set to open a hip, cute bakery Baked, reports Dish. Her specialty is “a malt cake with salted caramel filling and a caramelized pretzel crunch in it.” We couldn’t help but think of this as a curious coincidence, seeing as New York currently plays host to a hip, cute bakery called Baked, where their specialty is a “sweet and salty cake” built around a salted caramel filling. Contacted for comment, Matt Lewis, owner of the New York Baked, told us “I think it is sad, audacious, and so unoriginal that someone would steal our name, integrity and even some of our famous cakes. Whoever these guys are, should just fess up that they are completely and totally out of bounds. I would suggest they change their name now so we don’t have to fight for what is ours.”
