A Full Plate Cafe hosts their third annual Rib Cook-Off this weekend on Hancock Street behind the Piazza at Schmidt’s in Northern Liberties. There will be a professional division with categories for Ribs, Brisket and Vegetarian. Professional Division teams include North Bowl, Sonata, Darling’s Diner, El Camino Real, Bar Ferdinand, Mermaid BBQ and Q BBQ and Tequila Bar. There will also be a division of amateur teams competing. Admission is $20, which gets you ribs, grass-fed organic brisket, access to A Full Plate’s vegetarian side dishes (southern style cole slaw, mac & cheese, baked beans, brussel sprout salad) and one sample from Stoudt’s Brewery (they’ll be pouring Scarlet Lady and their American Pale Ale) and ROOT. A bottomless cup is only an additional $10. Doors open to the public at 1 pm.
