Street vendor permitting is insanely complicated in San Francisco, with everybody from the Department of Public Health to the Police Department to parking enforcement signing off. Vendors on private property must only be licensed by the health department to sell food. The license costs $814. Vendors who want to sell on public property need a permit from the police department. That costs $927 for the application and another $746 to the Tax Collector’s office upon issue. New this summer: the Parks Department requires separate permits to sell on public land. If all of this makes you hungry, consult our map to find a vendor near you.
