Todd English In at Burger Joint, Out at Bonfire

The burger joint that Todd English told us about at the Beard Awards back in May will open in the former home of Dominic’s in the Theater District, reports the Herald. The as-yet-unnamed restaurant will offer moderately-priced burgers in a variety of meats with the second floor playing home to a “gastrolounge” with sushi and cocktails. Don’t get too excited yet, however. The burger joint has been “opening soon” since 2007 (it was actually the subject of our very first blog post!) and a source close to the project tells us it’s not quite a done deal.

In further handsome chef news, English is ending his association with Bonfire on August 31. In a statement released by English, he says “The decision was agreed upon by both parties; the Park Plaza’s vision for Bonfire has changed from the original concept. I wish them the best of luck.” Bonfire will keep its name for now and a new menu and chef will be announced soon.
