Hotel Alexandria raised a flag for Top Chef Ilan Hall’s forthcoming restaurant The Gorbals on Spring Street this Saturday, as well as signage over the interior lobby space where the restaurant will open soon. Hall announced the flag raising the night before via Twitter, but was notably absent come the scheduled 10 a.m. celebration, as was anyone else, including the flag which made its appearance later. Nonetheless, Hall thanked over 3,000 people for showing up to the flag raising the next day while on his way to a “lamb-off” he ended up winning in Fort Worth against Top Chef contender Richard Blais. We did spy one rough-looking Charlie O’s veteran staring at the flag that evening who asked us, “what the hell does that mean?”
