One of Stephen Starr’s longest-running shows, the darkly exotic Tangerine in Old City, served its last meal on Saturday night. The web site says the restaurant is “temporarily closed for daily dining” but that during the “brief hiatus” the space will be available for private events. Starr told The Insider that he would reopen with a new concept “more fitting to Old City.” While the demise of Tangerine will surely add fuel to the Is Old City Dead? fire, we’re wondering what new concept Starr might consider for the space. His long-rumored Greek restaurant? A second pizzeria before the first even opens? Love Burger, the burger concept that wasn’t in the old Letto deli space?
