If you missed your opportunity to indulge in Amish-style sausage sandwiches at the recent Pennsylvania Dutch Festival at Reading Terminal Market, relax. Starting today, you can get them all year round at Barb and Suzy’s Kitchen, a new stall at RTM.
The sandwiches, served on a roll with a sweet tomato-onion condiment, can be accompanied by bacon fries (thick-cut fries served with cheese, bacon pieces and sour cream), or, if that’s not healthy enough for you, batter-dipped fried vegetables. Barb and Suzy’s is adjacent to meat vendor S and B Meats, which also debuts today and sells Stoltzfus meats, mostly pork. Note that both stalls are run by Pennsylvania Dutch, so they’ll only operate Wednesday through Saturday. General manager Paul Steinke figures on an October 1 opening for Cajun-Creole spot Beck’s, operated by caterer Bill Beck (who owned Pompano Grill back in the ‘90s) and will feature beignets made on site.
