On the heels of Esquire’s “Best Fast Food in America” is, well, Details’ “Best Fast Food in America”! This list wasn’t created by chefs, but rather by JJ Goode, who has written for New York Mag and knows a thing or two. The top 25 contains some classics (the double cheeseburger at White Castle, the fries at McDonald’s, the Frosty at Wendy’s, the sandwich at Chick-fil-A, the spicy chicken at Popeye’s, the Oreo blizzard at Dairy Queen), some cult faves (the fish taco at Baja Fresh, the Jamoca shake at Arby’s, the curly fries at Jack in the Box, the caramel-apple empanada at Taco Bell, the double steak burger at Steak ’n Shake, the onion rings at Carl’s Jr., the cherry limeade and tater tots at Sonic), as well as some specialties from regional chains (the chili-cheese-slaw dog at the Varsity, the cheese curds at Culver’s, the sandwich at Kelly’s Roast Beef, the carne guisada at Taco Cabana, the ham, egg, and cheese biscuit at Biscuitville, the inverted three-way at Skyline, and of course, In-N-Out’s 2x4 Animal Style). Jack Donaghy would be pissed that the Blizzard got love over the McFlurry. And no Fatburger? We might’ve added the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger at Wendy’s (best value), the McGriddle (best hangover helper), maybe the root-beer freeze from A&W;, maybe the corn-dog nuggets from Nathan’s just for show— anyone have other additions?
