L.A.’s burgeoning food truck scene is about to get a legitimate cheesesteak contender. The Los Angeles Times reports that a new mobile vendor, the South Philly Experience is planning to foist the signature Philly sandwich on the land of people who are far too attractive and weight-conscious to properly appreciate it. While normally we scoff at a cheesesteak served anywhere beyond the immediate suburbs (and sometimes scoff at the excuses for cheesesteaks served within Philly city limits), we have to say, the South Philly Experience guys, despite actually hailing from South Jersey, are more legit than most - they’re serving steaks on Amoroso’s and selling TastyKakes. Now could someone please tell the Times that cheesesteak is one word and a “sub” from a Philly-inspired food truck should be called a hoagie.
