Buy Your Oysters Cheap on National Oyster Day

We never would have expected today to be National Oyster Day, what with it being the height of the non-“R” months, but that’s what SFoodie says, and they’re a reliable source (ok, we googled it too). Perhaps somebody went out and quickly founded the holiday after Jon Bonne’s contention Sunday that the R rule should get chucked here in the Bay Area. Whatever the reason, oysters would seem to be the thing today, so consider stopping for a plate during happy hour, when many are on special for a dollar. SFoodie has a list of five such deals, and you may want to check out our Google Map on the topic from back in April. For traditionalists that won’t eat bi-valves until September, we’ll remind you that many of these same cheap-date oyster houses run concurrent drink specials. And it’s always the season for that.
