Where is the Best Macaroni and Cheese in San Francisco?

What is it with macaroni and cheese? Everybody we know grew up eating it out of a blue box marked “Kraft” (and loved it with hot dog chunks), but danged if we haven’t all become super hard to impress now that we can drive to the South and get the real stuff. This seems to have happened to Eating My Way Down Clement, which recently returned from a sub-Mason-Dixon adventure. Feeling some withdrawal, they hit up Clement’s Hard Knox Cafe (which recently made the Guardian’s Best of the Bay), and it did not satisfy. “Macaroni and cheese comes in two styles- halfassed or done right. This place chose the former. It was a slippery silicone mess of velveeta and overcooked macaroni.” Ouch. We’d love to hear from you on this topic. Where do you go for macaroni and cheese, that most comfortable of comfort foods?

#4 Your macaroni and cheese? It doesn’t impress me…
