From tippling with a imaginary statue to drinking to save a distinguished brewpub from going under, there’s plenty going on this weekend in the City of Brotherly Love.
Tonight
Sample the Puerto Rican fare at The Institute, which at long last opens its kitchen at 5 p.m.
First, watch the Roaming Gnome throw back a pint with Joe Sixpack at McGillin’s at 5 p.m. He has good taste for a completely imaginary creature - he’s already had a DiNic’s roast pork sandwich.
Saturday
Amada and Chifa are now both open for lunch on Saturday. Be a glutton and try to eat at both.
Check out the Summer Ale Festival at the Philadelphia Zoo with the usual local brewery suspects.
If you’re out West anyway, University City Dining Days are still in full swing.
Sunday
Want to help save the General Lafayette Inn, the storied brewpub that’s fallen on hard times? The Brew Lounge is sponsoring a Save the General bike/walk/run. If you’d rather just drink to support the pub, you can skip the exercise and just take part in the meetup afterwards.
