Last night we found Rocco DiSpirito cooking with his mom at a benefit for a scholarship fund in the name of Steve Scher, the partner in Calle Ocho, Rain, Bar Bao, and others, who died suddenly last year at the age of 50. Since Rocco had recently been spotted chatting up Jeffrey Chodorow, we asked him if the Restaurant-era wounds had healed. “It’s been over for years,” he said. “We had lunch and said, ‘what were we thinking?’ He wants to open a restaurant with me … I’m still mulling it over.” Meanwhile Rocco is concentrating on his acting career: “I recently filmed a scene for the movie The Ugly Truth, where I play a TV chef. I thought they were calling me for craft services, but they wanted me to actually be in the movie.”
