New York Legend Joe’s Pizza Opens Second L.A. Home

We get deliriously happy when our New York friends pay us a visit and actually like it here. So it appears with Joe’s Pizza, the Bleecker Street legend that set up shop along Broadway in Santa Monica in 2007.

In a sure sign we’re not about to lose Joe (née Giuseppe Vitale), today marks the official opening of Joe’s West Hollywood location at the intersection of Sunset and Alta Loma. We wish Joe success and a pinch of luck in taking over the shuttered Cristoni space as he expands his menu past pizza to Italian-American comforts like chicken parm, pasta, and a small army of heroes.

The new Joe’s is being itself run by a new Joe: Giuseppe’s 22-year old son who says the first official day “went really good. We didn’t push the opening too hard, but a lot of people showed up. A lot of them grabbed a quick slice, and then came back five minutes later to grab another one.”

Now if we can just entice Corner Bistro out here…
