Hungry Mother will be named as one of the “Top 10 Best New Restaurants in America” in the upcoming issue of Bon Appétit. The magazine singles out Barry Maiden’s cuisine, which “combines southern and northern ingredients with classic French technique.” There’s even a recipe for the restaurant’s cornmeal-crusted catfish with collards and Creole mustard vinaigrette. This is the latest in a long string of honors for Hungry Mother and Barry Maiden: the restaurant was named Top Newcomer in this year’s Zagat Survey and Maiden was named a Food & Wine best new chef in April. Here are the other restaurants that made Bon Appétit’s list.
