The Other Critics

Fish & Farm Scores; Flour + Water Racks Another Rave

• Michael Bauer revisits Fish and Farm for a two-and-a-half-star overall review (three stars for service). He seems to really have taken to the redone Tenderloin joint, especially for its fried entrees. “[Chef Chad] Newton is someone to watch, and Fish & Farm should continue to thrive in its out-of-the-way location.” [SF Chronicle]

• Paul Reidinger gets existential at Bistro St Germaine, named after the famed Paris bohemian district. Impressed by the mussels and roast poussin, he found the fish suspect (“can fish be gamey?”). Overall, though, it sounds like Reidinger was well taken care of. “From the arrival of the first basket of bread at the table, it’s clear that care is being taken in the kitchen.” [SFBG]

• Meredith Brody finally takes her shot at Flour + Water, where she, like others, was blown away by the pizza and pasta. Entrees sagged for her, but overall it sounds like yet another critic walked away impressed. “One bite was all it took to know this was one of the best pastas I’d ever tasted.” [SF Weekly]
