Chicago Magazine’s annual Singles feature is up, and included among the hot-but-loveless is Perennial chef Ryan Poli. Besides liking to embrace awkwardly photoshopped bags of Cool Ranch Doritos to his manly chest, Poli reveals that he’s a South Side kid at heart, and his family is baffled by his calling to high-end gastronomy: “No one in my family knows where my being a cook came from. The joke is that there’s a mailman somewhere who drinks pinot noir and wears Prada.” And how does he impress girls? “I’m kind of shy sometimes when I meet new people,” he says in the feature’s accompanying video. “I kind of let cooking do the talking for me.” If you think Poli could be your soul mate, you’ll have the chance to meet him (or any of the other ChiMag Singles, including Stephen Westman, co-owner of 44th Ward Dinner Party) at the magazine’s Summer Lovin’ mixer this Friday night.
