This summer’s Taste of Chicago (which runs from June 26 through July 5) might have less food this year than it has in the past, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be a culinary wasteland — Explore Chicago has released this year’s list of vendors, and there’s plenty to go around. Among the variations on Italian ice and sausage pizza more numerous than you can shake a stick at will be tourist favorites like Connie’s Pizza and Harry Caray’s. Garrett’s Popcorn will be representing, serving their Top Chef-designed “popcornsicle,” a popcorn-popsicle made with liquid nitrogen. For those in search of turkey legs, worry not: the mantle left by now-shuttered Helen’s is being taken up by Taste newcomer Manny’s Deli, who will be serving the giant drumsticks barbecued, alongside other options of barbecue brisket sandwiches and potato pancakes. For the more gourmet palate (though if you fall into that category, why are you at the Taste?), we suggest Vermilion’s mango-cumin dusted fries with date chutney, Oak Street Beach Cafe’s grilled slipper tail lobster, and The Grill on the Alley’s gazpacho with chopped avocado and chives.
