Tough Times for Restaurant Owners on Craigslist

Everyone knows it’s a tough time for the restaurant industry, but to find out just how tough, you might want to check out the food/beverage/hospitality job listings on Craigslist. Two posts went up late yesterday, and they paint a grim picture. The first is from the owner of an Annisquam restaurant space who is so desperate to rent his or her 45 seat space on a marina that s/he is offering it rent-free. It’s fully furnished and on the water. You’re responsible for the utilities, but this is still a ridiculous and semi-disturbing deal. The second post comes from a restaurateur on Mass Ave in Arlington (though we can’t be sure, all signs point to Prose) who would like to rent out her restaurant’s kitchen in the mornings. Both posts strongly indicate that the restaurants involved aren’t making ends meet. On the plus side, if you’re looking to get into this troubled industry, deals abound.
