Michael Madden, formerly the sous-chef at Aura, has taken over the kitchen at Om. Madden has actually helmed Om beforehand - he served as acting chef in 2008 - but now, he’s fully revamped the menu, dividing it into four sections: refresh (light small plates), rejuvenate (heavier small plates), revive (soups), and indulge (entrees). Clarissa Madden (Michael’s wife) is also coming on board as Om’s executive pastry chef with new dishes like Vietnamese coffee trifle.
In an excellent example of the incestuous nature of the Boston chef world, in his last job, Madden worked under executive chef Rachel Klein at Aura. Klein’s job before that? Executive chef at Om. When asked for a comment, Klein responded that “[Madden] went back to somewhere he’s comfortable and I wish him the best.”
