Laurent Brunacci Is In at Matt Levine’s LEVANTeast; Care to See the Menu?

Despite what he says are hundreds of information requests per day, Matt Levine has been secretive about his redo of the restaurant in the Hotel on Rivington, but we can now share details about LEVANTeast, its chef Laurent Brunacci, and its food, which Levine describes as a “combination of classic French Bistro meeting American Spa.” The Cannes-born Brunacci, the owner of Pit Stop, in the Columbia Street Waterfront District, has also been the chef at Park Bistro and Café Noir, and (more recently) the head toque at Jules and its sisters Le Singe Vert and Bar Tabac. Levine is still training staff and hosting tastings; when he opens in a couple of weeks or so, there’ll be cosmetic changes to Thor, most notably artwork by Alexandra Richards (she’s in the business of black-and-white silhouettes of Slash, Bob Dylan, and we’re assuming her dad Keith). Take a look at the lunch and dinner offerings as well as Jamie Gordon’s cocktails. Bottle service in the lounge, which will now be curtained off from the street, starts at $350.
