Last Night On Top Chef Masters: No One From Chicago Showed Up

We sat down to watch Top Chef Masters last night with no small amount of trepidation. Would the chefs be too full of themselves to make for good television? Would their dignity get in the way? Would we just find ourselves snoozing through an hour of expert chiffonading and more obscure pork preparations than Paul Kahan can shake a stick at? To our great fortune, the answer to all those questions was no: we actually enjoyed the hour of TV immensely, rooting alternately for episode winner Hubert Keller (weird hair and part-time DJ gig notwithstanding) and Boston’s oh-so adorable Michael Schlow, and marveling at Kelly Choi’s microscopically tiny ribcage. For more in-depth takes on the episode, check out a Boston-centric version at MP Boston, a SF-focused take at MP San Fran, and a brilliant/despicable breakdown at Grub Street NY. We’ll give you more of an opinion next week, when homeboy Graham Elliot Bowles is in the running. If you’re very very good, maybe we’ll give you a liveblog.
