Japanese Speakeasy Shuffle: Bohemian Is In, Mr. Jones Is Out

Photo: Melissa Hom

We hear that hidden Tokyo bar Bohemian has now soft-opened at its “secret” location. The timing couldn’t be better, since another Japanese speakeasy (albeit a faux one), Lesly Bernard’s Mr. Jones, has shuttered after less than a year in business, according to Eater. Sad, since the place had its own thing going on — and definitely a blow to Bernard, who lost chef Colin Alevras to Daniel Boulud while struggling to open three other spots — Permanent Brunch, Village Tart, and La Otra. The place’s nowheresville 14th Street location was part of its charm, but we suspect it also kind of damned it.
