The new W Hotel, set to open in the Theater District this fall, will have a lobby bar called, like every other W Hotel lobby bar, The Living Room. There’s just one issue: Boston already has a bar called The Living Room, and its owner, John Hauck, is not happy, reports the Herald. To make matters worse, W’s The Living Room will have board games and cocktails, just like the existing The Living Room. Huack, who (indignity of indignities!) learned about the W’s plans from the Globe, is “hoping we can settle it like gentlemen, since I was here first.” Since the lobby bar in every W Hotel is called The Living Room, things don’t look great for Huack’s hope of getting the name changed. The (original) Living Room’s many fans should start preparing to get specific when making plans to meet up at the bar with friends.
