In this weekend’s Tribune, ink was spilled on how you can get your home to look exactly like The Publican. (That’s what you want, right?) The James Beard Award-winning restaurant design hinges on the tremendous quantity of low-hanging frosted globe lights, which designer Thomas Schlesser integrated in order to “create a more intimate space at the great rectangular table” which fills the center of the restaurant. “By using about four times the number one might normally see, it not only makes a cloud of light but also makes the effect more abstract,” Schlesser told the Trib. “The use of a common object repeated numerous times is a trick Pop artists used to great success.” To DIY, Schlesser suggests that you just, um, set up a whole bunch of lights.
