The grand ballroom at the Drake Hotel will be converted into a porcine wonderland on Sunday, and you could be there for free! Five chefs meet five pigs at the inaugural year of Cochon 555. Graham Elliot Bowles of graham elliot, Chris Pandel of The Bristol, Patrick Sheeran of Signature Room at the 95th, Sam Burman of bluprint, and Stephen Dunne of Paramount Room and Volo are all vying for the title “Prince of Porc” [sic]. The title is awarded by a team of judges and an audience vote, but the event is really an excuse for virtuous gluttony. At previous Cochon events elsewhere, crowds gorged on preparations from the straightforward (New York’s Del Posto handed out cracklins like candy) to the weird (bacon praline marshmallows from Boston’s Bond). Plus there’s the nonstop flow of wine, the energy of the crowd, and the particularly exuberant atmosphere that can only come from a room full of bacon.
