Waters and Bourdain on Stage, on Video

Our sibling publication in New York got ahold of some video of last week’s Alice Waters/Anthony Bourdain talk at Food for Thought forum in Hartford, Conn. Bourdain refrains from any uncomplimentary comparisons, but does needle Waters a bit when he says the only thing that matters about food is whether it tastes good: “As a chef, I’m not your dietitian or your ethicist. I’m in the pleasure business …. My responsibility is to give you the most delicious tomato that I can afford, given the circumstances, and maybe increase the likelihood that you get laid after dinner.” While Grub Street sees an unamused Waters, we’re pretty sure that’s a smile cracking through the facade. She’s got to know Chez Panisse has been successful in that realm more than once. [Via Grub Street]
