The Many Hats of Rick Tramonto

TRU chef Rick Tramonto, along with manning the stoves at his various successful restaurants, appearing on the Martha Stewart show, having awesome tattoos, and generally living the fabulous life of a top-tier chef, has been all a-twitter lately about his upcoming cookbook: “meeting with my cookbook team today with our prop stylist to plan the look of the new steakbook” on Saturday, and last night “Sorry I could not be at Beard Awards this year just too slammed book deadline and going to Spain good luck to Chicago Chefs bring it on home.”

So what book would that be? It’s Tramonto’s forthcoming Rick Tramanto’s Steak With Friends, described by publisher Andrews McMeel as a book that will “show home chefs how to reproduce the flavors and tastes of great steakhouse food,” presumably those of his suburban Tramonto’s Steak & Seafood.

The cookbook, of course, is not to be confused with Tramonto’s forthcoming memoir — “the story of the author’s great successes in the restaurant business, desperate lows and exhilarating highs in his personal life, and joyous connections with God” — scheduled to come out in Fall of 2010 from Tyndale.
