Sustainable Sushi at Shedd

We realize the Shedd Aquarium is gung-ho about sustainable seafood practices, and we support them in that mission. But we can’t help but look a little askew at their Family Sushi-Making Class, co-hosted by Purple Asparagus, which promises parents and kids the chance to “roll up your sleeves and roll some rice with fish that’s good for you and the earth.”

Chopping up fish and then eating it raw — a little insensitive to the aquarium’s residents, no? Kind of like wandering the zoo gnawing on leg of zebra? If you aren’t quite looking at it the same way we are, you can buy tickets for the May 31 class here.
