Speculation about Stephen Starr’s pizza place started up a couple weeks ago, and is really taking shape now: Starr confirmed to Hadas Kuznits of KYW Newsradio that his pizza parlor in Headhouse Square is totally on. Starr shoots from the hip on his motivation for opening Pizza Select (he wants great pizza and doesn’t think there is any in Philly) and reveals that “it’s going to be real thin-crust, Brooklyn-style pizza, which you’d think is served here but it’s not. Here it’s just thick, doughy pizza. We’re doing a lot of research on this.” He’s shooting for an opening sometime in September or October, and as rumored, it will go into the former Cosi at 2nd and Lombard.
