Mobile Food Trend on Fire as Creme Brulee Man Prepares to go Dark

The holiday weekend and its associated festivities seem to have gotten the chattering classes frothing about street vendors. Not only did the Chronicle run a big feature on the Creme Brulee guy and his compatriots today, but SF Weekly profiled the latest vendor to hit the tweet/street scene: Sexy Soup Lady. And while some seek to get more out of mobile food, such as these Chowhounds who are discussing the merits of catering weddings with taco trucks (thumbs up from us, btw, can we get an invite?), others such as the CB Man himself, seem to be looking for a little more anonymity. This morning the the Creme Brulee man tweeted that he’d do one more super-secret service, the location of which you had to get by messaging him on twitter, then would go dark for a while. He’s getting married at the end of May, so we can forgive him for denying us the street desserts temporarily, but we wish him happy and hasty returns. If you just can’t go without your caramelized custard in the meantime, we found 51 restaurants on our site that carry the dessert. We know it won’t taste as good as in Dolores Park, but please try to cope. [Via SF Gate, SF Weekly]
