La Briciola Opens Sans Giant Tomato

While we were sad to see that gigantic tomato removed from the corner of Third and Bryant streets, the silver lining is that a new Italian restaurant has opened up in the former Vino e Cucina space, which the metal fruit once adorned. Tablehopper reports that La Briciola, a joint project by a group of former servers from Ristorante Mona Lisa, opened last Friday. The menu comes in two sections: “From the Earth,” and “From the Ocean,” and prices hover in the teens and low 20s. The interior is pretty classic, with cream-colored walls, arches, dark wood furniture, and a granite bar. Being a former server, we particularly wish these guys luck, but we’re sure going to miss that big, freaky tomato. [Via Tablehopper]
